Secondary School of Informatics and Communications

is a secondary specialised and vocational school that has been existing for already 60 years

  • the school leavers are highly appreciated by the labour market in the fields of telecommunications, information technology, telematics in the traffic, logistic and financial services, postal services, banking and insurance services,
  • 50–55 % school leavers continue with their studies at tertiary educational institutions,
  • the school sends the attendants abroad to improve their foreign language skills at partner institutions in Austria, Italy and Lithuania,
  • the school is authorised to test the pupils of technical specialisations in order to award the successful with internationally recognised certificates of the network specialists CISCO and also specialists in the PC HW & SW,
  • during their studies the school attendants have an opportunity to take part in specialist practice attachments with Czech and foreign companies which in many cases become their employers, too later on,
  • the school is equipped with modern teaching technology facilities,
  • the school is connected with a students’ boarding house allowing extensive out-of-school activities, modern playgrounds and a dining hall,
  • in addition to the secondary education proper the school offers also further education programmes both for pedagogic workers and the specialist public.

Information technology

Four-year study programme leading to the final Maturita exam.

This study programme provides the attendants with a set of theoretical and practical pieces of knowledge connected with information systems´ management, computer networks, operation systems and network installation configurations. The school leavers are supposed to be well orientated in technology exploitation for routine agendas, company presentations including web page design and usage of graphical programmes, data-base systems as well as in creating applications through programming languages.

During their studies the attendants can obtain internationally recognised certificates in the PC HW & SW – IT Essentials I and II and in computer networks Cisco CCNA.

The school leavers can find their jobs as IT technicians, user support specialists, and operation system and network managers.

A mechanic specialised in electronics focused on information technologies

Four-year study programme leading to the final Maturita exam.

This study programme is aimed at training specialists in assembly, installation and service of computer systems including designing and managing computer networks.

The programme emphasises practical training keeping the theory in an appropriate balance.

During their studies the attendants can obtain internationally recognised certificates in the PC HW & SW – IT Essentials I and II and in computer networks Cisco CCNA.

The school leavers can find their jobs as IT technicians, user support specialists, and operation system and network managers.

Digital technology and Multimedia

Four-year study programme leading to the final Maturita exam.

This study programme reflects current development trends in the field of information technology means and communication processes. Having passed their finals the school leavers find their jobs as technicians and managers of telecommunication networks – both wired and mobile ones, digital TV broadcasting or the internet providers. They become multi-purpose specialists in the field of information technologies.

Telematics in traffic

Four-year study programme leading to the final Maturita exam.

This study programme is focused on modern technologies of electrical and electronic communication, interlocking and safety systems in traffic infrastructure. The school leavers can find their jobs as assembly technicians, specialists in launching and servicing communication and interlocking systems on roads, in the underground, railway and air transport. They are highly appreciated by the labour market.

Intelligent networks and equipment

Three-year training programme for obtaining the apprentice certificate.

This training programme deals with design, maintenance, monitoring, diagnostic testing and repairing of local area and wide area weak current networks, telecommunication and interlocking systems as well as telephone and computer networks.

The school leavers can find their jobs as assemblers or servicemen at the companies of data transmission, intelligent security systems etc.

Three-year training programme for obtaining the apprentice certificate.

This training programme is aimed at maintenance and repairs of electrical and electronic communication and interlocking systems.

The school leavers can find their jobs at companies providing operational services for road traffic, underground, railway and air transport.

Banking and Insurance services

Four-year study programme leading to the final Maturita exam.

This study programme results in secondary-school-level qualified specialists for banking, insurance services, securities business and clerical & administrative works.

The school leavers should be able to perform qualified activities connected with agendas of banking and insurance products, stocks & bonds and economic information processing.

The school leavers find their jobs in all the fields of the national economy as clerical, administrative and operational specialists.

Logistics

Four-year study programme leading to the final Maturita exam.

This study programme deals with basic activities connected with organising, planning, managing and relocation of material and information in optimum time to the right place at minimum costs. Freight services are included, i.e. negotiating contracts, processing documentation, supervising transport, management of loading, boarding, dispatching and unpacking, accompanying, complaint dealing etc.

The school leavers find their jobs as logistic specialists in traffic and freight, i.e. e.g. managers of logistics in companies providing domestic and international logistic services.

Postal and Financial Services

Four-year study programme leading to the final Maturita exam.

This study programme is aimed at training specialists in performing postal and small banking operations. The school leavers have a command of operational technologies of postal and monetary services including work with appropriate appliances and business administration.

The school leavers can work at the post offices, logistic companies and small banking institutions. Wide range of their administrative and business skills allows them to undertake many more jobs connected with administrative and economic activities in any kind of enterprises and businesses.

Postal service and Freight operator

Three-year training programme for obtaining the apprentice certificate.

This training programme is designed for postal service specialists, processing, freight and delivery of consignments. The school leaver is orientated in information and communication technologies, traffic and freight networks – both local and world-wide ones, including regulations, service conditions and auxiliary equipment.

School boarding house

Accommodation

Modern school boarding house offers accommodation and catering for the school pupils as well as for the other Brno students of high schools and further education institutions. There are 695 beds available in the boarding house. The accommodation is connected with educational activities following official school programmes. The boarding house has been classified as the 1st category (first class) and provides a good background for studying.

The boarding house provides a hotel-like accommodation, i.e. each pair of rooms (one double, one triple bed) shares a common bathroom and a toilet.

Each floor has its study room equipped with a TV set, two PCs with an internet access including the wireless WIFI connection, there is a kitchen (microwave oven, fridge, electric kettle). The adult students can be accommodated even over weekends providing they can meet certain requirements.

Catering

The all-day catering is provided in a modern dining hall with its own kitchen. There is also a canteen and several vending machines offering a wide range of drinks in the entrance hall.

Spare time

For those who are accommodated in the boarding house there is a spare time activity centre preparing an extensive programme of events and opportunities to enjoy. There are some 50 activity groups aimed at a wide range of interests. There are 2 gyms, 3 fitness centres, athletic stadium, volleyball and tennis courts, a ballroom and an information centre with a library.
